one of my girlfriends first mentioned the Beehive Tea Room to me last summer, but I didn’t avail myself of the opportunity to try it myself until yesterday.

oh. my. gosh.

first, I have to admit it’s pretty pricey IMO — almost $10 for a pot of tea for one and a decent-sized house salad. but both were absolutely DELICIOUS, and I will probably splurge on the occasional light supper at the BTR (as it’s affectionately known by its regular patrons) again in future. I had their tangerine and ginger tea — not only was it a delightful bright pink (made for a much-needed visual pick-me-up), it was pure heaven after a long day at the office. I confess to 2 packets of sugar in my cup — one just wasn’t quite enough. 😉 their house salad consists of fresh baby greens, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber slices sprinkled w/pine nuts and generously drizzled w/a truly outstanding herbed balsamic vinaigrette. I’ve had some frankly lackluster salads at other establishments downtown over the last few weeks, so this salad — and in particular the dressing — was an extremely pleasant surprise.

and at some point I’m bound to indulge in their Afternoon Tea, a reservation-only affair that sounds like grand fun. steeply priced at $22.50/person (does include tax + gratuity), I’ll probably arrange tea as a celebration for a special occasion, maybe a birthday or an anniversary…
